The challenge

The key challenge was the nature of the environment: the centre hosts ongoing meditation retreats, meaning the grounds are occupied by visitors who require silence and minimal disturbance. In addition, the site’s size and layout required careful planning to ensure compliant and safe drone operations.

All work needed to be carried out in accordance with CAA regulations for commercial drone flights, adding an additional layer of operational responsibility.

The solution

To respect the needs of the retreat, we coordinated closely with centre staff to schedule drone operations during suitable windows and planned flight paths that avoided sensitive areas. A full risk assessment and flight plan were prepared in line with CAA requirements, ensuring safe distances were maintained and all airspace considerations were addressed.

Using high-resolution drone equipment, we captured detailed aerial imagery and height data across the entire site while maintaining a discreet presence and avoiding disruption to visitors.

The outcome

The drone survey delivered a comprehensive and accurate overview of the centre’s buildings, grounds, and surrounding landscape, providing the client with high-quality data suitable for planning, design, and site management. By combining careful scheduling with precise, regulation-compliant flight operations, we completed the work efficiently and respectfully.

The resulting outputs now give the centre a reliable visual and spatial foundation to support future improvements while preserving the peaceful environment that is central to its purpose.
