The challenge

The scope included detailed floor plans for five storeys plus a basement level, full external elevations, building sections, and topographical information surrounding the property.

The primary challenges were the limited access within occupied private apartments and the complexity of surveying a multi-level residential building while ensuring accuracy, discretion, and minimal disruption to residents.

The solution

To meet the requirements, we planned our survey schedule around the restricted access times and coordinated closely with building management and individual occupants.

Using high-resolution laser scanning, we captured the internal layouts quickly and accurately during the access windows available, allowing us to produce detailed floor plans for every level, including the basement and roof areas.

Exterior elevations and sections were recorded using a combination of laser scanning and total station control to ensure precision across the full height of the building. The surrounding topographical information was captured simultaneously, providing a complete picture of the building and its immediate environment.

The outcome

The client received a comprehensive set of CAD drawings, including fully detailed plans for all floors, accurate elevations, clean section drawings, and a complete topographical survey of the external areas.

Despite access limitations and the need to work sensitively within a high-end residential setting, the project was delivered to a high standard of accuracy and clarity.

These deliverables provided the client with reliable information to support refurbishment, planning, and future development of the property, ensuring they could move forward with confidence in the quality of the measured data.
